February 6th ~ Photo a Day

The big day for the dancers who performed in the Stars of Tomorrow competition that some of the highschool students put together. This has been going on for 7 years now and each year they donate money to the people in need in our community. Awesome way to teach the youth of our country to give and also to receive..the joy of giving and knowing you are helping those in need is an amazing feeling and growth experience.
These young women and girls are breath taking to watch. The girl in the picture conveys to us that dancing takes no effort at all just by looking at her pose and the expression on her face, but it is complicated and takes many years to perform some of the leaps and turns they execute. "Dancers are among the most passionate and dedicated of artists and rarely take their work for granted." The letter |

P for Performance
This week some of the kids at the studio have been practicing for Stars of Tomorrow competition, including Chandraya. Her group did an awesome job performing for the Tech. rehearsal. But my most favorite dance performance was the dance to the song Spiderman. The girls range from 9-11 years of age and are amazing to watch. The dance teacher Donna has tons of ideas constantly flowing out of her head. I am in awe at her ability to choreograph these dances year after year. An amazing women I admire greatly. My daughter and her classmates in ballet. They got there costumes in so they were able to dance in them. Aren't they just the cutest little girls.
My favorite of all of Chandraya's dances is ballet. I just love the way they move. They look like angels. There dance teacher Angela is an excellent teacher. My daughter is the second child from the left. Camera settings: flash pointed at the ceiling, shutter 50, f/4.6, ISO 400 bigger size: http://rk-web.net/photoalbum/albums/userpics/10004/jan25re.jpg |

I took my daughter to dance as usual and the teacher come in with their new costumes for their upcoming competitions. The girls were pretty excited as they tried them on. Here they are.
The song they are dancing to is "Funky Town". They are robot girls. They have a boy in there class, but he didn't get his costume in. Can you guess which one is mine? :-) Aren't they all cute. Settings: kit lens, shutter 40, flash pointed at ceiling(really bad lighting in the studio), f/5.6, ISO 100 |

My daughter, Chandraya with her dance teacher Donna. Donna is teaching her how to hold her leg up properly for her solo. She is very patient with her. I enjoyed watching the one on one .
Chandraya needs to practice lifting her leg up and keeping both legs straight while in this position this week so next Saturday she will know how to do it correctly. Chandraya is pretty excited to be doing a solo this year. She has worked hard to get this far. She was a bit nerves today being her first practice, but she did ok. The song she is dancing to is "Naked Mole Rap" . If you've ever watched the disney channel with your kids you would know this song. hehehe...to cute. Camera settings: 50mm, f/1.8, sh 160 I layered two pictures on a white background and used the erase tool on the edges. Brightened it up |
